Tecogen® Inc., provider of clean energy products which, through patented technology, nearly eliminate criteria pollutants and significantly reduce a customer’s carbon footprint, recently announced the sale of a 300kW combined heat and power system to a medical center in Brooklyn, NY. Worth over $1.6 million, the sale includes three InVerde e+ 100 kW combined heat and power (CHP) units, Tecogen’s patented near-zero Ultera emissions control technology, and full turnkey installation service. Slated for outdoor installation, the three state-of-the-art InVerde e+ cogeneration units will power the nearly 300-bed hospital facility as well as the community care clinic.

“The capabilities of the InVerde e+ are especially well suited to the health care segment, especially those facilities focused on emergency standby power and cost control initiatives,” said Benjamin Locke, Tecogen’s co-Chief Executive Officer. “For hospital mangers concerned about cutting operating expense while enhancing patient safety and quality of care, the InVerde e+ offers a robust and affordable solution.”

Launched in Spring 2016, the InVerde e+ offers on-site power generation as well as efficient heating and cooling capabilities. By recovering free waste heat from the electric generator for use in climate control and to provide hot water, the e+ can cut a building’s energy bills in half – the average InVerde e+ saves customers $50,000 – 100,000 annually on their utility bills.

Similarly, the e+ meets the rapid 10 second blackstart requirement for Emergency Power Supply Systems as per the National Fire Protection Association’s specifications, enhancing building resiliency and giving hospital managers the peace of mind their patients will never be left in the dark. Other features include best-in-class electrical efficiency to produce maximum savings, patented engine control technology for load turndown to as low as 10%, integrated Microgrid hardware, and customized real-time cloud based equipment monitoring and analytics powered by GE Equipment Insight.
