Malaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (KLSE:TENAGA), or TNB, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 50-MW solar park to be built by Sharp Ventures Solar Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
The contract has a term of 21 years, TNB said in a bourse filing on Monday. It will come into effect after the photovoltaic (PV) plant’s commissioning, which is expected to take place on December 31, 2023.
The special purpose company set up by Sharp Ventures Sdn Bhd was selected in Round Four of Malaysia’s Large Scale Solar (LSS) procurement programme that was launched in May last year. Under the award, the entity will build, own, operate and maintain a solar farm at Klang, in Selangor state on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
The LSS competition was held by the country’s energy commission, known as Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
