TNERC fixes Rs. 4.50 per unit for solar PV projects
Commission seeks comments from stakeholders
The Tamil Nadu Energy Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has suggested a benchmark tariff of Rs. 4.50 per unit for solar photovoltaic projects without accelerated depreciation, for the period starting April 1, 2017. With the control period (time frame for which a tariff is applicable) for the existing solar power tariff coming to end by March, the TNERC has put out a consultative paper to determine the comprehensive tariff for the coming year starting April 1, 2017. The Commission is soliciting comments from stakeholders and will accept them till March 15, 2017.
The regulator proposes to keep the control period as one year from the date of the tariff order and the tariff period shall be 25 years, since the capital cost of solar plants continues to be volatile. The tariff works out to Rs. 4.50 per unit for solar PV projects and Rs. 10.19 per unit for solar thermal projects without accelerated depreciation (AD), the consultative paper said taking into account the recent developments. With accelerated depreciation, the tariff would be Rs. 4.41 per unit for solar pv projects and Rs. 9.98 per unit for solar thermal project.
