Toshiba completes 6.4-MW rooftop PV plant in Japan
Toshiba Corp said on Wednesday it has completed, together with partners, a 6.4-MW rooftop solar installation at the Tahara plant of Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co Ltd (TYO:5423) in Aichi prefecture.
The photovoltaic (PV) system consists of 21,120 panels, capable of generating enough power to meet the annual demand of 2,000 ordinary households. The electricity generated by it will be consumed in-house by the Tahara plant.
The project is considered to be one of the largest self-consumption solar plants in the country. It benefits from a subsidy from Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.
Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation was in charge of the design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), while Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corp supplied solar panels. Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Co Ltd (SMFL) coordinated the entire project.
