TSEC starts trial run of new solar cell production line
TSEC is undertaking trial production at a newly established solar cell production line featuring adjustable production using solar-grade crystalline silicon wafers of varying sizes, according to the company.
While most Taiwan-based solar cell makers adopt M3-size solar wafers, TSEC’s new production line allows use of M3, M6, M12 and even 12-inch wafers, TSEC said.
The new production line has annual production capacity of 400MWp, and the capacity will increase to 500MWp if 12-inch wafers are used, TSEC noted. With the new production line, TSEC’s total annual production capacity for high-efficiency solar cells will increase to 1GWp.
Earlier in 2021, TSEC began operation of a new PV module production line, the company noted, adding it has invested NT$900 million (US$32.2 million) building the new module and cell production lines.
