ubitricity Offers Day of Free Electric Vehicle Charging for World EV Day
On September 9, electric vehicle drivers will be able to top up their cars, for free, as part of FREECHARGE for World EV Day. Any car plugged in to a public ubitricity charging station in the UK between 00:01 and 23:59 on that day will receive their charge session at zero cost.
ubitricity hopes that the FREECHARGE offer will accelerate EV uptake by increasing awareness about where public chargers can be accessed. The scheme aims to demonstrate the broad appeal of electric vehicles and how they can work for every lifestyle, not just people who have access to off-street parking.
FREECHARGE will encourage consumers to engage with and take notice of the charging infrastructure in their local area to shift perspectives about the accessibility of EV charging.
“In support of World EV Day and to reward existing and new customers for making the transition to electric vehicles I am very pleased to launch the first FREECHARGE event from ubitricity. On the day I hope as many people as possible seek out their nearest ubitricity charge point to take advantage of 100% renewable electricity that is 100% free,” said Daniel Bentham, managing director of ubitricity UK.
The FREECHARGE scheme is taking place on World EV Day. World EV Day is a global movement, a day of celebration of emobility, and a day to shift the transition to sustainable transport with consumer, business and policy outcomes. With major partners on board from around the world including ABB, Hyundai, DPD, and Mahindra Electric, World EV Day aims to catalyze public opinion worldwide to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles.
