In Detail : Dehradun – Uttaranchal University has signed an MoU with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, in the presence of President Jitendra Joshi and Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi.
The MoU was signed by Director General (NISE) Prof Mohammad Rihan, and Registrar, Uttaranchal University Dr Anuj Rana to undertake the Design, Development and promotion of Renewable Energy Systems in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand state has enormous potential for renewable energy resources. The MoU will contribute towards the socio-economic growth of Uttarakhand by reducing carbon emissions and by providing skilled manpower for projects, technology and policy. The major objective of the MoU is to plan for starting certificate/diploma/UG/PG level courses on Energy and will jointly work towards industry-academia interface and skill development. MoU will also support for Incubation/Innovation/product development for solar energy technologies. Both parties will jointly work on the Testing Protocol and Development of R&D projects such as developing technical and quality standards for energy storage in possible areas.
University President Jitendra Joshi explained that the objective of MoU is to work jointly to accelerate, expand and achieve the objectives of National Solar Mission through skill development and capacity building programmes.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi added that MoU will serve towards better opportunities for job creation and entrepreneurship. Energy deficiency has major impact on the livelihood of millions of people throughout the world. It is prominent that energy projects in rural areas can improve the standard of health conditions, education, living and empower the youth.
DG-NISE Dr Mohammad Rihan explained that clean and renewable energy technologies can play a vital role in serving society and he congratulated the team for utilising it for the benefit of society. He stated the MoU will work towards enhancing and facility and infrastructure through resource mobilisation and institutional partnerships to seize the opportunities expected from International Solar Alliance Plans, Programmes, and activities.
