UP govt to set up solar plants on govt buildings
Giving a fillip to the renewable energy project, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to set up solar power plant at the roof tops of the government buildings that would help in tiding over the prevailing power crisis in the state.
Stating this, UP government spokesperson Sidharthnath Singh said that the decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
He said the rooftop solar power plants will be set up by Renewal Energy Supply Company which will purchase electricity at the rate of Rs 3.91 per unit. “The target is to generate 4300 MW of electricity. The NEDA will be the nodal agency of this project,” he said.
Mr Singh, who is also Health Minister, said that the beginning will be done from the Buildings of the Health department.
In other decisions, the government has also decided to give mid-day meal to the ICDS children and decided to share the burden of implementation of Aayushman project, the ambitious health scheme of central government which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15.
In the implementation of Aayushman Bharat, the ambitious health project of central government, 60 per cent of the cost will be borne by central Government and 40 per cent by the state government. “This will benefit six crore population in UP. Saanchi will be the nodal agency of this project,” he said adding that Aayushman Mitra will be appointed across the state.
In another decision, government has decided to start mid-day meal scheme in Aaganwadi where children between the age group of 3 and 6 years will be served nutritious breakfast and lunch. In breakfast children will be served snacks having 200 calories and 7 gm protein while lunch will have 300 calories and 7 gm protein. “Government has earmarked Rs 43.99 crore for this project,” the spokesman said.
A decision which will promote farmers to grow coarse grains government has decided to extend subsidy in purchase of seeds for mota anaaj (coarse grain) in all districts. Earlier 50 per cent subsidy was given to select districts but now it has been extended to all the districts.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said earlier subsidy for barley seed was given to 19 districts, corn in 13 districts and jawar in 9 districts and now it will be extended to all the districts. “The government will require 1,11,765 quintal seeds which will cost Rs 80 crore,” he said.
Government has decided that promotion for Viklang Jan Department will be carried out by the government agencies. Earlier NGOs used to do at at the cost of Rs 1 crore. “There were reports of mis-use of funds and after that the funds for NGOs have been curtailed to Rs 10 lakh,” the government said.
After failing to install zero liquid discharge system in six co-operative sugar mills the NGT has ordered closure of these mills. The cabinet has decided to finance installation of such system in three mills namely Nanauta, Sampoorna Nagar and Nanpara. While funds fo remaining three mills in Anoop Shahar, Majhaula and Kayamganj will be installed later.
UP Government has decided to go digital by opting for e-office system from August 15 next. Till now only 21 departments have e-office in the Secretariat but after improving infrastructure and imparting training the government working will be made digital, said spokesman.
The government has made amendments in section 96 (a) of UP Police Regulation Act thus renaming chowkidar to gram prahari.
In other decision government has approved revised estimate of Rs 14.28 crore for construction of auditorium of Madan Mohan Malviya Technical university in Gorakhpur. Government has also waived of Rs 40.2 crore which forest department owed to UPEIDA during construction of Agra-Lucknow Expresway. The cabinet has also approved additional land for setting up medical colleges in Ghazipur, Etah and Sidharthnagar.
Government has also hiked insurance limit for traders from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This will benefit 9.14 lakh traders. It has also set up Integrated Scheme for School education that will govern Sarv Shiksha for Teachers Education. The Education department will be the nodal agency.
