Uttar Pradesh: PCL announces waiver on fixed charge for industries
UP power minister Srikant Sharma said that the decision has been taken to offer the sop to industries which were hit by the lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
LUCKNOW: A day after extending the date for payment of electricity bills by domestic consumers to April 30, UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) on Wednesday announced waiver on fixed charge for industries during the lockdown period.
UP power minister Srikant Sharma said that the decision has been taken to offer the sop to industries which were hit by the lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Fixed charge for industries is based on the electricity load they consume during operation of industries. In September last year, the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission had given its nod to increase fixed charge from Rs 250 to Rs 290 per KW per month.
The per unit charge was also increased for the industries from Rs 6.65 to Rs 7.10 per unit. UPPCL sources said that a demand to this effect was also raised by the industrial units.
