Vestas receives 139-MW turbine order for Japanese offshore wind project

Vestas Wind Systems A/S received a 139-MW turbine order from MHI Vestas Offshore Wind A/S for the Akita Noshiro Offshore Wind Project in Japan.
MHI Vestas, a joint venture between Vestas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., is responsible for the overall construction of the project. The wind farm is owned by Akita Offshore Wind Corp., a special purpose company led by Marubeni Corp. with additional Japanese project sponsors.
Vestas expects to begin turbine delivery in the second half of 2021 and installation to start in 2022. Akita Noshiro will be the first utility-scale offshore wind project in Japan, according to a news release.
