Built with a ₹2,500 crore investment, the facility uses advanced TOPCon technology and creates 9,500 direct jobs. In Detail : Waaree Energies has opened a 5.4-GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. This marks a significant step forward for India’s renewable energy sector, supporting the country’s goal of becoming a global clean energy hub.
Waaree Energies’ advanced facility
The facility spans 150 acres with a built-up area of 101 acres. It was inaugurated by Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Also, the company has dubbed it the “largest solar cell manufacturing Gigafactory in Bharat.”
Boosting employment and clean energy
This state-of-the-art facility is not only a boost for clean energy but also promises economic growth. It is expected to generate over 9,500 direct jobs and 30,000 indirect jobs in the region.
Waaree Energies is also part of India’s larger mission to strengthen its clean energy capabilities and reduce dependence on imports.
