Wonderful review of SNEC 2018: SPIC visited Jolywood booth, highly appraised Jolywood’s leading N-type high efficiency bifacial technologies

Background: on May 12, 2018, Jolywood (Stock Code: SZ300393) signed a < Framework Agreement On Sales Cooperation For Solar Cells and Modules> with HuangHe HydroPower Development Co.,Ltd. of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as HuangHe Hydropower) to establish a strategic partnership to jointly develop domestic new energy market projects, and the purchase of solar cells and module is up to 5GW. The announcement said that the two sides will use their own advantages in the field of new energy, and cooperate deeply in the industry information sharing, project development, engineering survey, design consulting, engineering design qualification, project general contract, investment and financing and so on. HuangHe Hydropower believes that the N-type monocrystalline bifacial TOPCON solar cells developed by Jolywood has excellent conversion efficiency, which will help reduce the LCOE.

From May 28th to May 30th, SNEC 2018 was held in Shanghai New International Exhibition Center. As a supplier of the world’s leading N-type high efficiency bifacial solar cells and modules, this time Jolywood showed a number of innovative photovoltaic products at the SNEC, obtained favorable comments from new and old friends of the photovoltaic industry.

In the afternoon of May 29th, Mr. Xia Zhong, deputy general manager of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), visited Jolywood booth in spite of a very busy schedule, and gave a high appraisal of the new technology and new products exhibited by Jolywood. Mr. Lin Jianwei, the Chairman of Jolywood personally introduced the company’s latest achievements in the field of N-type bifacial solar cells and modules, PV materials and family new energy.

In the N-type high-efficiency bifacial solar cells exhibition area, Lin Jianwei introduced that the mass production efficiency of Jolywood N-PERT solar cells used in the SPIC project has reached 21.7%, while the maximum production efficiency of IBC solar cell has exceeded 23%; the new TOPCON solar cell launched in this exhibition has increased the mass production efficiency by 0.9% comparing with N-PERT, and by the end of the year, it can be further increased by 0.4% to 23%. In addition, Jolywood solar technology will continue increasing the research and development of N-type high efficiency bifacial solar cells, deepen the cooperation with SPIC, and jointly promote the large-scale industrial application of N-type bifacial solar cells.

Regarding solar modules, Jolywood unveiled the N-type bifacial glass-transparent backsheet module, of which the front power can up to 400W with TOPCON bifacial solar cells, and the maximum comprehensive power can be more than 480W with superposition of other technologies. Meanwhile, the module also adopts transparent TPT backsheet that jointly developed by Jolywood and DuPont recently, not only meets the basic application requirements on bifacial modules like weather resistance and UV resistance, but also changes the disadvantages of bifacial modules like only double glass can be applied, heavy and difficult to install. More than 90% visible light transmittance can greatly improve generation gain of the backside of bifacial modules. It is worth mentioning that Lin Jianwei introduced to SPIC the innovative solar module of Jolywood, the glass free AI flexible module with ultra thin 100 micron IBC technology developed and manufactured by Jolywood recently. This new module can be bent freely into S-shape or arc-shape while being lightweight and having high conversion efficiency. It is suitable for all kinds of applications on curved surfaces and BIPV.The leaders of SPIC highly appraised these new products.

As a global top manufacturer of solar backsheet leading in reliability, product cost performance and market share, this year at SNEC Jolywood not only launched a series of transparent backsheet solutions such as TPT/TFB/FFC with DuPont, but also upgraded the transparent backsheet technology – a grid type high reflection transparent patented backsheet product, with which the power of solar modules can be increased by at least 5-6W; better inner protection of backsheet will guarantee the whole life cycle of solar modules.

“The high reflection aluminum partner system of bifacial modules is another backstage hero and soul mate that Jolywood gives to bifacial modules,” Lin Jianwei introduced, “Its surface is treated with diffuse reflection microstructures with advantages of lightweight, high intensity, high reflection, high heat dissipation, self-cleaning, wind and snow resistance, long life and so on, which can help bifacial solar power plant become much cheaper in terms of LCOE and higher power generation gain.”

Lin Jianwei finally concluded that in the 25year lifetime of PV modules, the front side will gain at least 7%, because comparing with P-type, N-type high efficiency monocrystalline solar cell has zero degradation in the first year and lower degradation rate from the next year. Plus at least 10% gain from the power generation of the backside, N-type bifacial technology can increase overall comprehensive power generation by at least more than 17% comparing with P-type single-sided technology. Jolywood insists on this high gain road to return the trust of its partners.
