Bengaluru : BYD India, a subsidiary of the world’s leading New Energy Vehicles manufacturer (NEV), BYD, is commemorating World Environment Day by celebrating its progress to a more sustainable future. As of May 11, 2023, BYD sold over 4.1 million new energy vehicles globally, and has saved a total of 33,644,524,664 kg (33 billion) of carbon emissions globally. In India alone, BYD has been instrumental in cutting back 118,046,879 kg (118 million) CO2 emissions through BYD electric passenger vehicles (EPV), BYD electric forklift, BYD electric trucks, and the electric buses powered by the technology of BYD’s battery, powertrain, and chassis.
BYD has played a pivotal role in driving the adoption of electric vehicles globally, and with this emission savings, it has further underscored its dedication to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. For over 16 years, BYD India has substantially contributed to reducing carbon emissions through its electric mobility and advanced battery technologies.
In 2022, BYD was the first manufacturer in the world to entirely cease production of Internal Combustion Engine vehicles and constructed one of world’s first zero-carbon headquarters by an automobile brand, setting benchmarks for the global transportation industry and low carbon transformation manufacturers. In the same year, BYD passed the ISO 14064 Certification and PAS 2060 Carbon Neutralization Certification in building one of the world’s first headquarters with a zero-carbon campus.
BYD India’s current product line in its electric passenger vehicle (EPV) business showcases a range of cutting-edge, eco-friendly vehicles tailored to the Indian market. The key models include the BYD ATTO 3 and the All-New e6.

The BYD ATTO 3 is India’s First Sporty Born E-SUV. It is the first model born from the e-Platform 3.0 in India, which is exclusively designed for the next generation of pure electric vehicles with deeply integrated Blade Battery, 8-in-1 High Efficiency Electric Powertrain, Wide Temperature Range High-Efficiency Heat Pump System, and other core technologies. The e-Platform 3.0features the world’s first 8-in-1 electric powertrain (with the motor, motor controller, reducer, onboard charger, DC converter, high-voltage distribution box, vehicle controller, and BMS integrated in 1), reducing the overall size by 20% and weight by 15%, providing an overall efficiency of 89%.
With a range of up to 521 kilometres as tested by ARAI and 480 kilometres as tested by NEDC, the ATTO 3 also offers fast-charging capabilities allowing users to reach 80% battery capacity in just 30 minutes. The BYD ATTO 3 prioritises safety with its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS Level 2), including adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, ensuring a safe driving experience. As a born electric vehicle, BYD ATTO 3 produces zero emissions, contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
