
WorldOne Energies Boosts India’s Solar Ambitions with Advanced 1.2 GW Manufacturing Facility – EQ

In Detail : WorldOne Energies has inaugurated a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector. The new plant is equipped to produce N-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) mono and bifacial modules, with power outputs ranging from 525 Wp to 650 Wp.
The facility is designed with advanced manufacturing capabilities, making it 33% faster than conventional module production lines in India. It features cutting-edge technology, including 144/156 half-cut cells, and achieves an efficiency rate of 23.26%, which makes the modules suitable for residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar installations.
With an investment exceeding ₹2 billion (approximately $23.4 million), the plant represents a major commitment by WorldOne Energies to support India’s transition to clean energy. The company intends for this facility to serve as a cornerstone of its larger solar manufacturing ambitions.
Looking ahead, WorldOne Energies plans to scale up operations significantly. The company has announced a roadmap to expand its module production capacity from 1.2 GW to 10 GW. In addition, it is planning a scalable 2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility, with potential growth up to 5 GW.
Beyond solar module production, the company is also focusing on integrated clean energy solutions. It offers energy storage systems with high-capacity lithium-ion batteries and hybrid solutions tailored for efficient energy management. Solar inverters optimized for on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid applications are also part of its portfolio.
These efforts contribute to India’s broader goal of enhancing domestic solar manufacturing. As of mid-2024, India’s cumulative solar module manufacturing capacity reached 77.2 GW, with solar cell capacity at 7.6 GW. WorldOne Energies’ expansion aligns with projections that aim for 172 GW of module capacity and 80 GW of cell capacity by 2026.
