Remember the Lucid Air sedan we told you about last week? It’s here. Lucid Motors unveiled the car globally and also announced the launch of the newest rival to Tesla electric cars. Available in four avatars, namely, Air, Touring, Grand Touring, and Drem Edition, Lucid Air’s price starts at under $80,000. That is ₹58.65 lakh according to today’s exchange rates. Neat! We don’t know if the car will make its way into India as well, but we do know Lucid Air sedan’s deliveries will start next year.

Peter Rawlinson, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Lucid Motors, said, “Lucid Motors is driven to make the electric car better, and by doing so, help move the entire industry forward towards accelerated adoption of sustainable mobility. The goal of this relentless approach to developing the world’s most advanced electric vehicle is to benefit all mankind with sustainable, zero emission transportation, and to also attract new customers to the world of EVs. With the Lucid Air, we have created a halo car for the entire industry, one which shows the advancements that are possible by pushing the boundaries of EV technology and performance to new levels.”

Now, onto the details: Lucid Air gets a 1,080 horsepower a dual-motor set up. And as for the battery, the car is available with an in-house developed 113kWh extended-range battery pack that draws on Lucid Motors’ 10 years of experience and more than 20 million miles of real-world testing. The company says the Air electric sedan can consistently achieve a quarter-mile time in under 10 seconds. Oh and Lucid Air’s driving range — it is claimed to deliver an estimated EPA range of up to 517 miles on a single charge. That is 832 km on a single charge.

It is also the fastest charging electric vehicle in the world and is able to charge at a rate of up to 32 km per minute when connected to a DC Fast Charging network. This means the can be charged to deliver a driving range of up to 483 km in only 20 minutes.
